EMP’s Chinese language remake is scheduled to go into production at the end of the year with a major release slated for 2018. Chinese power player Ge You is on board the project in a major role yet to be confirmed.

Ge is one of the most recognized faces in Chinese films, best known for his dark and droll comedies such as Keep Cool and Be There or Be Square. He was named Best Actor at the Cannes International Film Festival in 1994 for his performance in Zhang Yimou’s To Live.
“The success of Radin! not only in France but also with its international sales is proof of the universal appeal of the story. I believe it will translate well into a Chinese setting and for Chinese audiences and I can’t think of a better partner to work with than Ge You whose comedic talent and timing has always struck a chord with that market,” says EMP CEO Albert Lee.

Said Ge You: “I see a lot of cultural parallels that make this a great story for Chinese language cinema. I’m excited to be on board in whatever capacity; it would be extremely satisfying to make this relevant for a new segment of audiences.”

The producer added Jerico is very proud that its film is adapted in China by such a prestigious production company as EMPEROR along with an actor with such a recognized talent.
