Drama
The story begins with the start of the 1911 Revolution, and describes the various incidents of Mao Tse-tung joining the New Revolutionary Army, Yuan Shih-k’ai crowning himself the Emperor of China, Sun Yat-sen and Ts’ai O establishing the National Protection Army to go after Yuan, Chang Hsün’s failed restoration, causing China to enter into a chaotic period when warlords fought one another over the claiming of territories. With the end of the First World War, China attended the Paris Peace Conference as a victor, but countries such as England and USA ceded the territories of Tsingtao and Kiautschou Bay to the Japanese, in total disregard of Chinese interests. This led to the May Fourth Movement. Due to the success of Russia’s October Revolution, certain intellectuals believed that Communism can save the nation. After many years of hard work by Mao Tse-tung, Li Ta-chao, Ch’en Tu-hsiu, Ts’ai Ho-san, Chang Kuo-t’ao Chou En-lai and others, on 22nd July, 1921, thirteen Party Member representatives from all over China gathered at the dormitory of Po-wen Girls’ College, Shanghai, the Chinese Communist Party was officially established!
